BC Tax Assessment Questions Answered

With your tax assessment in your hands now a lot of questions come up. The two most commons ones I get are:

1) Will my tax bill change by this same amount? What your property taxes go up by is a combination of how much the City needs for the following year and how much your home is worth compared to everyone else in the City. 2) Is this what my home is worth? No, your assessment isn't always accurate. Our market is very dynamic and this assessment was taken on July 1 and in BC real estate time that's a lifetime ago depending on where you live. The appraisers do their best but they don't know about any kind of upgrades, alterations you have inside or if you roof was just redone. The best way to get your home's worth is to talk to a local expert or get an online home valuation here.
